SCULPTURE
Snakes In the Grass
Spring 2015 Steel, Glass, Stainless steel Wire Tail: 1.5' x 3' Mid Section: 4' x 3' Head: 2' x 5.5' It’s easy to be fooled when someone camouflages themselves into the grass of the crowd very well. On the outside you see normality, a figure that can blend in easily -but eventually everyone’s natural essence will seep through and present itself. These true colors will find a way to surface, and sometimes these colors are murkier than expected. I’ve used a bold palette to express this intense act of the personality eruption out of camouflage. |
Octo Chair
Steel Rods, Fabric and stuffing
5.7' x 3' x 5'
After studying Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland, I have evoked a structure out of the term "literary nonsense." This is a categorization of literature that "balances elements that make sense with some that do not." This nonsense is an effect of excess of meaning rather than lack of. It is nonsensical for the sole idea of it's ridiculous nature. I want to evoke a feeling of control for the sitter of the chair, and turn them into an octopus.

Osteoporosis
Fast Mache, Wire 1.5' x 2' A bone that has undergone the process of disintegration from osteoporosis has a very organic, intriguing shape to it. The crevices that are hollowed out by this calcium deficiency are very limiting and beautiful at the same time. I wanted to display something on the inside and bring it to light. |
Geometric Growth
Spring 2015 Metal Rods, spray paint, acrylic paint Entire space: 10' x 6' Individual structures range from 3.5' x 2' x ' to 1' x 1' Behind every natural, organic form there is a unique basic structure. The patterns and geometric designs that make up these simple molecules are equations for masses as large as the ocean. In order to create a whole, these small pieces must bind together, creating an inseparable relationship. Even us as humans are part of this exact foundation. The idea that particles broken down into their most basic forms can help us understand the broader significance of geometric forms in nature. |
Momma Nature
Fall 2014 5' x 4' Metal, Wire, Lace, Paint, Hemp, Burlap Dedicated to my sweet mother, a depiction of the face of mother nature, I tried to capture the imperfections of humanity while creating a natural environment for these objects to grow. Known to be the giver of life and nurturer, this feminine face gives off a peaceful aura and a home |
Diamond in the Rust
Fall 2014
5' x 4' individual pieces
14' x 6' space
Sheet Metal, Rods
A perspective sculpture I have installed on campus in front of the Art building. From the right point of view a pile of dirty shapes can be something beautiful. I personally dedicate my life to positivity and find it's important to focus on the good and see the true charm of life even if you might not see it at first. I have let this piece rust to "dirty" it up enough to let the true beauty shine through.

Avocado Atmosphere
Fall 2014 Metal Rods, Sheet Metal, Hemp, Paint 6' x 4' The resting space when an avocado is sliced in half has drawn my attention for years. Similar to the layers of the earth, these very defined segments of space create a clean- cut area for the pit to dwell in. Recognized as a "super fruit" because of all it's beneficial qualities, I decided to enlarge this fruit enough for any general audience to idolize. |
